The index is based on a "best-in-class" ESG approach, meaning that companies in the bottom quartile of sector-adjusted ESG scores are excluded from the thematic universe. Companies exposed to controversial deals, those subject to serious ESG controversy or those that violate the UN Global Compact are also excluded.​
